Stuck in a maze

Classic reunion.....or not?

She leaned heavily on the coolest tree trunk she could find in Georgia, which wasn't that cool. The sun that beamed down on her didn't help at all with the on coming fever, and she regretted never taking what little medicine she had found in an empty house. She was thinking on trying her luck and go to the city, try and scavenge some medicine before the walker notice her, but this plan can go horribly wrong if she ends up getting worse and they do spot her.
Something moving on her left caused her to tense up and focused, she readied her bow and held it up, prepared for whatever was headed her way. Nothing came so she relaxed slightly, her breathing labored thanks to the fever she now had, it wasn't long till the fever overwhelmed her and she passed out.

Nila slowly woke up, finally realizing her surroundings. She was still in the woods leaned up against the tree, and when that sunk in her mind, she instantly sat up right, only to get light headed because she moved too fast.
"Easy there," came that all too familiar southern drawl.
Her eyes widen, as she looked at the crossbow wielding man in front of her. She blinked her eyes rapidly, thinking that the fever, which wasn't so bad anymore, was making her hillusionate. Though her luck was back, and she smiled widely at the man before her.
"Tà tù beo!" She shouts, her Irish voice filled with relief.
He hushed her and she quieted down with a sheepish smile.
"Tá brón orainn, Daryl," she apologized.
"Stop talkin' like that, I don't understand ya." He muttered, as Nila giggled.
She was doing that on propose, it was something she did to annoy him or when she was mad at him; other times she did it without meaning to. It was her native language after all, she was sort of forced to learn it as a child.
" what the hell you thinking, sleepin' out here-" he's aid somthing else but Nila didn't really hear him since she was thinking over if she should tell him about being sick.
No, that probably won't be a good idea....
" I'm knackered, okay? I didn' mean to, it just....happened." Nila shrugged then stood up slowly. She didn't want him figuring out that she was ill.
Her skin was warm and she had thought that the sun would make it worse like it was earlier again, this thought had her worried, but didn't show it. Nila looks up at the sky to see that the sun wasn't as high as it usually is during the day and it made her let out a silent huff. What was she going to do when night comes? she usually plans things before hand but since she kind of passed out.....it was delayed to later. Much later.
"Cad tá mé ag dul a dhéanamh anois ?" she muttered under her breathe."Bí siúlóir bia?"
Daryl looked at her then shook his head, not understanding a single thing Nila had said. It was something he was used to, but it irritated him for some reason.
"Come on, I ain't gonna stand here all day," said Daryl, turning around and leading the way.
She readies her bow with an arrow and followed him without question. She knew him her intire life, she trusted him with it too.
The two walk in a comfortable silence that most people would deem awkward, but to them it made it a little more relaxing to know that some one they knew and trusted was at their side; just only a little.
this little peacefully moment was soon interrupted when they both heard a young boy yell.
"mom-dad!"
Nila and Daryl glanced at each other for a mere second before heading off towards the new found commotion. When the had arrive, Nila can clearly see a deer with a massive hole where it's stomach should be and a dead body laying on the ground beside it, the head was missing and was laying a few feet away from the body.
"Son of a bitch," Daryl groaned upon seeing the dead deer.“That's my deer!”
a few members standing around seemed used to Daryl's ranting by now cause some left to do whatever that they needed to do, ignoring Daryl and the fact that he brought back a complete stranger. Nila didn't seem to mind this though, she was too amused by Daryl who was still ranting on about 'his deer'. She swung her bow across her back and placed the arrow she had out back with the others that rested on her back as while.
"Look at it all gnawed on by this..,” Daryl kicked the body of the walker, ..”Filthy…” He kicked it again, “…disease-bearin’..” and again, “…motherless poxy bastard!”
“Calm down son, that’s not helping.” An older man said.
Daryl approached him.
“Whaddya know about it old man?” He got in his face, the other two men beside the older one stepped in, and raised their guns to back Daryl off. “Why don’t you take that stupid hat and go on back to ‘golden pond’?” Daryl spat, turning away from him and back to the deer.
Nila rolled her eyes, hitting her lip to stifle a laugh that was trying to escape.
“I’ve been tracking this deer for miles.”
"Bhí mé ag rianú ar dtús .... till rith mé amach." mumbled Nila, then smiled innocently when people, including Daryl looked over at her. Daryl just shook his head and continued.
he sighed.
“Gonna drag it back to camp, n’ cook us up some venison.”
Nila begain to notice that the few people who decided to stay, looked annoyed and fed up with Daryl. She sighed, looking back behind her in the woods wondering if coming here was the right choice. As far as she knew, she only knows and trust darly at this moment and she was thinking that maybe she would stay with him, she just wasnt so sure about the other people, she really didnt get an official invitation to sat anyway,so maybe she will just get up and leave. after at least one goodnight rest of caurse.
A man with a red baseball cap and a shotgun casually hanging on his shoulders looked over to Nila and gave her her a forced smile, she smiled back, then returened to watching Daryl as he continued.
Daryl leaned over the deer, observing it.
“Whaddya think? Do ya think we can cut around this chewed up part right here?” He said, looking over at the man.
The man looked disgusted, “I would not risk that.”
Daryl walked around and sighed.
“That’s a damn shame.” Then he remembered, “I got some squirrel, about a dozen or so.” He said, lifting the string off his shoulder. “That’ll have to do.”
Daryl looked back at Nila, who seemed to be enjoying herself a little too much.
“You stayin' no questions asked.” He stated rather simply without even asking.
the group looked at her.
“You’re more than welcome to, if you want of course." The man who nodded at her said. “I’m Shane. This is Rick, Dale, Jim, and that’s Andrea and Amy over there hiding.” Shane pointed to the members of the group. “There are more of us back up that hill there.”
“Nila,"She said smiling politely, while pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
A snapping sound arose from the ground, and Daryl grunted annoyingly as they all noticed the decapitated head was lying on the ground trying to attack Daryl’s feet.
Amy winced, “Oh God.” Before shaking her head in disgust and walking away with Andrea quickly.
“Come on, people. What the hell?” Daryl frowned, taking his crossbow off his shoulder and pointed it at the head. His arrow went straight through the eye socket, and quited the bitters snapping mouth. He Stepped over to it and pulled out his arrow.
“It’s gotta be the brain. Don’t y’all know nothin’?”
Daryl started to walk away, calling back to nila to follow him. this made her sigh.
"You by yourself or with another group?” Dale asked, tilting his fisherman’s hat slightly to readjust it.
Nila looked over to him and shook her head.
“By myself.”
“For how long?” They all looked at her in shock.
“Um..” She looked down for a few seconds then back up at them. "since it all started really."
“You know Daryl?" Shane asked, nodding back forwards where Daryl had walked off.
“Grew up with him,"she shrugged.
“There’s something we need to take care of with Daryl, it might get ugly so you might want to stand back.” Rick said," unless you know how to calm him down." then he walked away with Shane.
Nila sighed and followed them down to what looked to be a camp sight, up a little ahead Daryl shouts for his brother, someone who-surprisingly- Nila gets along with pretty well.
“Merle! Get your ugly ass out here! I got us some squirrel!”
She heard Daryl calling out to his brother one last time before Shane stepped in
"Daryl, just slow up a bit. I need to talk to you.”
Daryl turned, looking around him as everyone, they were all stairing from a distance.
“About what?” He said hesitantly.
Shane walked to stand in front of Daryl, “About Merle. There was a problem in Atlanta." Shane stopped pacing and looked at Daryl.
Daryl took a step back and looked at everyone else again.
“He dead?”
Shane shook his head, “We’re not sure.”
“He either is or he ain’t!” Daryl shot back at him.
“There’s no easy way to say this, so I’ll just say it.”
The group turned to Rick, walking up next to Shane wearing an white tee-shirt.
Daryl looked at him, not recognizing him, “Who are you?”
“Rick Grimes.”
“Rick Grimes,” Daryl mocked, “You got something you wanna tell me?”
“Your brother was a danger to us all, so I handcuffed him on a roof, hooked him to a piece of metal. He’s still there.”
Nila frowned, she knew how much a lose cannon Merle can be but to do something like that? It was horrible and no one deserved something like that.
Daryl turned, water just reaching his eyes.
“Hold on,” he mumbled, wiping his face. “Let me process this.” His voice rose to the point that he was yelling,“You’re saying you handcuffed my brother to a roof, and you left him there!?”
“Yeah.” Rick simply stated.
Daryl grunted, throwing the string of squirrels at Rick with a protest coming from Shane. Daryl lunged at Rick, but never stood a chance when Shane tackled him to the ground. Pulling out a knife, Daryl swiped at Rick once more, but Shane dragged him back with a choke hold.
“Okay. Okay.” Shane said calmly, bringing Daryl to the ground once more.
“Best let me go!” Daryl yelled.
“Nah, I think it’s better if I don’t.” Shane said sarcastically.
“Choke hold is illegal!”
“You can file a complaint.”
Shane had no problem holding Daryl back as Rick knelt down.
“I’d like to have a calm discussion on this topic. Do you think we can manage that?”
Daryl glared as Rick repeated himself, before nodding to Shane that it was okay to let him go.
“What I did was not on a whim. Your brother does not work and play well with others.”
“It’s not Rick’s fault. I had the key. I dropped it.” A young black man called out, looking defeated. Everyone turned toward him.
“You couldn’t pick it up?” Daryl questioned.
“Well, I dropped it in a drain.”
Daryl bent over on all fours, showing the scruffs of dirt on the back of his shirt. In a moment after, he was up wiping his face again.
“If it’s supposed to make me feel better, it don’t.”
The man spoke again, “Well, maybe this will. Look, I chained the door to the roof so the Geeks couldn’t get at him – with a padlock.”
“It’s gotta count for something.” Said Rick.
Daryl’s face went red, tears hanging on his eyelids.
“Hell with all ya’ll.” He waved at them. “Just tell me where he is, so’s I can go get him.”
Nila frowned and sighed.she wasn't going to let him go alone and lose him. Not a chance. Though she was beginning to wonder if shell be any help if that fever comes back. She sighs again, so much for a rested night.
