It's the End of the World, Didn't You Get the Memo?

The Body Has A Funny Way Of Betraying Itself

Eventually they reached a large wall manned by some armed men, and Merle gave the all clear, letting them through and Glenn stopped the car, making the engine's wonderful rumble die down. A few men came over, pulling Glenn out first roughly and tying a blindfold around his head, and then Merle got out of the car, and the others took out Maggie and Katherine.

“When this is over, and you're all trapped inside your minds as walkers, I want my car back,” Katherine said to the Hispanic looking man that clutched her healthy arm tightly before he also tied a blindfold around her head too and she silently counted the steps and sounds of where they were being taken next. This has happened before, but these men were not professionals, and they'll probably have more mercy than the men she was taken by ever did.

“Glenn?” Katherine heard Maggie cry out for her lover, the only sound being made out of the three of them as she listening to her lulling heartbeat.

“I’m here Maggie, it’s going to be okay,” Glenn replied with an assuringvoice, but the man that had hold of him had shouted at him to shut it, and soon enough Katherine could feel Maggie's shaking body next to hers. She soon heard a door creaking open a few minutes later and her blindfold was taken off, along with Maggie's and they were pushed inside. It was a dainty room with a wooden table and two chairs in the middle, there was dripping pipes and Katherine knew that he must have been in a basement because she could hear footsteps over them.

The Hispanic man frisked Maggie, and Merle had come in and began to pat down Katherine, smirking all the way.

“You like what you see?” Katherine asked, feeling Merle's hand run up her leg and thigh, making its way around her pelvis and stomach. “So how's this going to go? No more threats, you going to do it this time? Rape me?” She mocked, Merle getting up and patting her jacket pockets, stuffing his hand inside and pulling out Daryl's bandana, making Katherine's throat swell.

“Where did you get this?” Merle's face was dangerously close to Katherine's, and Maggie watched on, crying silently as his fist was close to her porcelain cheek, clutching the material.

“I won it off your brother,” Katherine replied honestly. “He's a good shot, but he's not quick,” She was playing it off like she was insulting him, and she had no idea why. It was like she was trying to provoke him again, but she did want to see her brother and Daryl again. Merle growled, continuing to pat her down and taking a moment to rest a hand one of her heavy breasts, making Katherine look away from Merle's similar eyes and trying to suppress what her body wanted to give. “Finish your search,” Katherine barely whispered, and Merle squeezed, and a ghost of a moan shocked her and he smirked, finding what he was looking for. He pulled down her shirt, and then the top of her bra to reveal a small pocket knife stuffed in the middle of her cup. He pulled it out, rough fingers brushing against her nub and she gasped under his touch, squeezing her eyes shut to avoid looking at his twisted grin.

“You might hurt yourself,” With that said, the two of them left the room and Katherine fell against the tin wall.

“What are they going to do to us Kathy?” Maggie whispered fearfully, crawling over to the older woman and Katherine shrugged, feeling tears prick the back of her eyes.

“I don't know, I really don't know,”

“He might kill Glenn!” Maggie cried into Katherine's shoulder while she tried to rub her back in reassurance.

“Just stay calm,” Katherine didn’t know what she was saying; who she was reassuring anymore and a few minutes later, the Hispanic man strolled back in the room, his rifle strapped to him and he clicked is fingers in front of Katherine.

“The Gov’ wants you, now,” Katherine turned to Maggie with soft, comforting eyes as she got up from the floor, the man grabbing her roughly by the back of her jacket and she struggled against him. “Oi, calm it,” He growled, close to her face and she could smell the cigarette smoke lingering from his lips.

“I will kill you,” She told him a low tone as he pulled her out of the room she and Maggie were in, and down a hallway being guarded by several other men.

“Alright toots,” He chuckled beside her, reaching another door and Katherine was shoved inside it violently, making her trip over her boots and fall into the dusty concrete. She looked up to see another man standing over her, and she scrambled up from the floor, hearing the door shut. Katherine observed him, an older man around Malachy’s age with salt and pepper hair, and a charming smile that made her skin crawl.

“Sorry about that, Martinez can be a little rough sometimes, the same with Merle,” His calm voice told her with a smile, gesturing for her to sit down on the other side of the table. Katherine slowly moved to sit down, still on alert. She could have taken him down, but that would have granted her being shot in seconds, she wasn’t with the walkers now. “I’m the Governor,”

“You shouldn’t send them to do your dirty work, they are bound to mess it up somewhere,” Katherine replied firmly.

“You’re quite the firecracker aren’t you? Merle has told me all about you in Atlanta, very sassy,”

“Listen, if you’re going to compliment me into telling you where our camp is, then Merle hasn’t told you very much,” Katherine leaned forward with a forced, sickly sweet smile, making the Governor frown and his facial expression grew inpatient.

“You must have someone very close to you, for you to keep this a secret. A boyfriend, child, sister, or brother maybe?” Katherine’s mouth became tight at three of the four suggestions, and the Governor smirked when he found her core.

“You touch a hair on their heads; I will rip yours out,”

He chuckled.

“You’ve got some spirit I’ll give you that, and I don’t want to bruise that face any more than Merle has, so we’ll try something else,” The Governor became content again, leaning back in his chair with lustful eyes. “Take off your clothes,” Katherine’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates when the words came out of his mouth, and she gawped a little. She wasn’t going to let Maggie and Glenn get thrown to the dogs, she was going to keep them safe, and all she could think about right now was Malachy and Daryl finding out, and then tearing apart the Governor with their bare hands. “Right now or I’ll kill Glenn, Maggie, and your boyfriend, your brother and your child,”

“You’re a bastard,” She got up from the table, knocking the chair backwards as she practically tore the jacket off her shoulders, tears threatening to spill at the thought of them being hurt. Katherine knew that the baby wasn’t hers, but she’d do anything to safe her. “A sick bastard,”

“Enough of the language,” The Governor scolded her, and Katherine threw the jacket at him, and then lifting the vest off her shoulders, lettinghis eyes roam around her scarred body, making her avert her eyes. “Keep going,” Katherine bit the inside of her cheek as she kicked off her boots and began to shimmy out of her tight jeans, tossing them to the side before standing back to reveal herself in her lace underwear to the Governor. “I must say, Andrea doesn’t have a thing on you,” Katherine raised an eyebrow at the name Andrea, knowing she had met a stuck up and hot headed woman named Andrea back in Atlanta. She just hoped she wasn’t the one that he was talking about. “Your boyfriend is very lucky,”

The Irishwoman stayed silent, even letting a tear escape her left eye and the Governor got up from the chair, and began to stalk towards her. She didn’t dare move as he trailed his hand down the middle of her back ghostly.

“Stay here,” He moved away from her and headed towards the door, opening it and Katherine inhaled sharply, the cold air brushing into the room and over her milky skin, and she watched as the Governor spoke to a man outside. “I’ve got a treat for you boys,” She felt her heart plummet as she saw Martinez stroll in first, followed by several other guards around the dungeon and Merle behind them as well. They crowded behind the table, looking at her like she was a piece of meat and Katherine looked at the Governor with a fearful expression. She couldn’t believe what was he was doing. Katherine caught Merle’s eyes, and one half of him was staring at her like he was going to jump her within three seconds but the other half was remorseful, almost guilty. His cold eyes turned back to her. “Strip,”

“No,” Katherine whispered and he stormed up to her, grabbing her shaking arm and squeezing tightly, making a bloody curdling scream rip from her throat, falling to her knees at the overwhelming pain.

“Damn, she’s got some lungs on her boss,” One of the soldiers sniggered, making the others laugh with him as the Governor yanked her up from the floor by her hair, Katherine grunting against him. The pills were wearing off sooner than she had though.

“Do it,” The Governor growled against her ear, keeping a firmly grip on her greasy, almost lower back length locks. She took in a deep breath before reaching behind and grabbing the straps of her bra, the men around her whistling and howling at her like animals. “Put on a show,” He said even quieter and Katherine nodded shakily, clearing her throat and putting on a brave face, pouting her ruby red lips. She pulled the straps down her arms, revealing her heavy breasts to the men, and she threw the lace towards them, making them cheer when one of them caught it. Katherine then took off her panties and did the exact same thing, leaving her there, stark naked with all the men’s eyes on her.
Soon after everyone had taken a good look at her, Merle walked forward, handing the Governor a knife while trying to keep his eyes off Katherine, as if he had some moral grounds and the Governor pressed the knife against Katherine’s neck.

“Last chance Miss McKinney, where is your camp?” Katherine felt the knife press harder against her neck, hissing when it nicked the skin and she could feel blood slowly trail down to her collar bone. She turned to the twisted man and hacked at him in the face.

“Go to hell,” The Governor yanked her head back, taking the knife and pushing it violently through where her hair began at his fist, and Katherine yelped at she felt strands being ripped from her scalp. The Governor took her hair, tossing it on the table before he shoved her to the floor, and ordered them all to leave angrily. Katherine breathed out from the floor, feeling her hair rest choppily against her shoulders and the Governor tossed her panties at her, gathering up her other clothes, leaving her boots on the floor and heading for the door.

“Get changed, you’re joining your friends,” He slammed the door shut behind him and Katherine let out a sudden choked sob, pulling her knees up to her chest to cover up her body, and then ran her hands through her sore, short hair. The Governor had humiliated her in front of his men, something that she hadn’t been through when she had been kidnapped, but she just couldn’t believe it. She felt sick, wanting to throw up at the thought of Daryl seeing her like this, but there was nothing to throw.
Katherine took a calming deep breath, and began to get changed into her underwear and slipped into her boots. She looked like a whore, a violated whore.

“Don’t do that shit Kathy, you’re a grown woman, not one of those bitches…” She whispered to herself, rubbing her eyes, making mascara beginning to pool underneath them. “You’re a McKinney, McKinney’s don’t get scared and don’t get have time to feel sorry for themselves,” Katherine continued as she touched her cheek, feeling the mark that Merle had given her began to bruise and burning at the touch. She pulled away from it and crossed her arms over her chest, to protect the non-existent pride she had left just as Merle walked back into the barely lit room, and she smiled bitterly. “Shows over Dixon, or did you come for a fucking encore?” Her accent with flushed with disgust and anger at Daryl’s brother, but she wasn’t going to cry in front of him again. No way.

“I didn’t think he would go that far,” Katherine barked a laugh at his words, and the fact that had sounded sentimental.

“Just take me to wherever your taking me,” She rolled her eyes and Merle walked over to her, gently taking her healthy arm while they were crossed across her chest and took her out of the room, down the hallway and past the room Maggie was left in and into another one where the Governor, Martinez, Maggie and a sickly beaten Glenn stood. Katherine’s eyes cringed at the sight of the Korean, his eye was swollen and his face and chest was covered in blood, she was also pretty sure a few teeth were missing. Maggie’s shirt was missing, but the two of them almost collapsed at Katherine’s appearance.

“You missed it, put on a great show,” Merle grinned at Glenn and Maggie, Glenn’s eyes becoming dark with fury, Maggie crying.

“What have you done to her?!” Glenn shouted in a hoarse voice.

“Daryl and Mal will kill you!” Maggie screamed in Merle’s direction.

“Glenn…” Katherine sighed sadly, looking down as she felt Merle tense up beside her.

“Daryl? What’s Daryl got to do with you?” Merle asked with a slightly stunned tone but Katherine refused to answer, simply crossing her arms tighter.

“Ah, the boyfriend,” The Governor realized, pulling out the revolver from his holster and pointing it at Katherine’s temple, making Glenn and Maggie both freeze in their places. “Your brother, is involved with her?”

“No way. My brother ain’t with this Irish bitch,” Merle protested in disbelief. “He fucks ‘em and leaves ‘em,”

“He hasn’t fucked me, I’m still with him,” Katherine smirked at Merle, only for the Governor pressing the barrel against her head harder. If Daryl, Malachy and the others were safe, that’s all that mattered to her.

“One of you will give up your camp, and if you don’t, she drops,”

“Don’t even think about it Glenn,” Katherine warned and she could hear the faint click of the hammer being pulled down. “May I be in heaven a full half hour before the devil knows I’m dead,” She quipped, closing her eyes and a deadly silence came over them, and Katherine could feel it coming.

“The prison!” Maggie shouted and the Governor’s gun dropped from her temple and Katherine let out a breath of relief.

“The one near Nunez?” He turned to Merle and Martinez and the Hispanic knitted his eyebrows.

“That place is overrun,” Martinez stated and Katherine was pushed over to Glenn and Maggie’s side.

“We took it,” Maggie continued, Glenn wrapping his arms around her comfortingly.

“How many are you?”

“Twelve,” Katherine replied, staring at the Governor with tired eyes.

“Twelve people cleared that whole prison of biters?” The Governor questioned hard, waving his gun around in front of them.

“Yeah, we did,”

@hoanie

Thankyou!
There were a lot of different responses when it was first posted about having the main characters that were Irish. Some people can't take new ideas! :)

I'm only on chapter 4 but this is excellent! I'm from Kentucky in the foothills of Appalachian mountains. I love that you have Irish main characters! But ill let you know what I think as soon as I'm done reading all of it. I'm a huge fan of Daryl Dixon and the walking dead series. 10/10 from me :)

@cocaineinwonderland
If people are going to complain about that, then why are they reading the story? (I never get stuff like that, you're not forced to read it or anything). Anyways I love your character(s) and it's nice to read about people who aren't American, especially the 'how they got to America' bit cause its nearly always different.
I'm English too but I don't attempt to write to the American time zones, gives them something to wake up to I suppose! Thanks for agreeing to take a read :)

@chroniclesofcharnia

I know, it's just a lot of people have been complaining about how she's not like the other characters in people's stories. I make my characters realistic to a T, and a lot of people don't approve that Katherine can't get pregnant, isn't American, isn't all puppy dog in love with Daryl, etc. I wanted her as different as I could possibly make her and some people love it more than hate it so I'm cool with that :) I'm glad you are enjoying the story, I do try and update within the times of American readers as well considering I'm in England aha. That's what I used to do, I would sit up until 4 in the morning (when I knew it was American time) and watch the episode to get to writing it. I'd love to read what you've written, I'll get right on it :D
