Lost Redemption

Feeling Lucky

It was a sunny, cool day in what looked like April. The sky was bright and blue and the wind was at that beautiful temperature that works so well against the skin when combined with the hot rays coming from the sun. Nora Walton was drinking her spoiled milk by the window of her current room. She was so taken by this beautiful day that she almost forgot about the rotting, walking corpses on the street.

After finishing her stale breakfast, Nora grabbed a backpack she had filled the night before with all the supplies she could find in the neighbourhood. It was mostly old crackers and cereal but this time she had also found a couple of cans of beans, corn and tuna. She felt like she had hit the jackpot. She also grabbed her “batbelt” as she liked to call it. It was a kind of utility belt that held two knives, two guns, a metallic bat and an 18th Century amputation knife – it was a curved knife about 24in in length; it was the one she used the most, her favourite.

Once she was ready to go, she said “good-bye” and “thanks” to the house. She felt like it was the least she could do after using someone else's home and taking their clothes and food even though she knew they weren't coming back. She stepped out of the front door and walked toward the car she had parked right in front of the house. She was spotted by a couple of roamers but she was quick and lucky there wasn't a herd around. She got in the car and hit the gas as fast as she could.

The car was struggling and had very little gas left, Nora knew she wasn't gonna get very far. She wasn't worried about that, her strategy had consisted of keeping moving for the last year and she felt like that had been the smart choice. So far, moving constantly and taking care of herself had felt much easier than being part of a survivor community, and it had also worked out much better.

Since the dead had started walking and biting, she had learned how to survive in the wild, how to find her way through the woods and how to find water. “To think I used to be such a city girl” she thought every time she found herself following some wild animal's tracks for a potential meal. That's why when the car finally broke down after about 30 minutes into the drive, Nora didn't hesitate to continue on foot through the woods.

She walked for a long time not bothering with the roamers. She learned to keep her energy by avoiding them and only fighting them when needed. After a couple of hours she found a creek and decided it was a good place to stay for the night. She climbed a tree and settled in a nice, comfortable branch. For the past year Nora had had trees for beds almost every night and by now she couldn't really feel the stiffness and scratchiness of a branch. She pulled a sleeping bag that was attached to her backpack and used it as a blanket. She had no intention of sleeping but she just couldn't keep her eyes open and she fell in a deep sleep as soon as the sun went down.

After what felt like a really short sleep, Nora got woken up by the sound of some voices. She got startled and tried to open her eyes but she couldn't, there was something covering them. She couldn't move at all, she could feel her hands and feet were tied by ropes. She was in the back seat of some sort of vehicle and she could hear the voice of a man and a woman talking about her and her brother, except she had no brother.

Glad you liked it. I was dying to publish that chapter, It's the reason I started writing this story :P

WOW!!! Great chapter! what hs happened to Carl? Poor him. Poor Rick. That was amazing.

@potenialwalkerthreat
Of course! I'm only basing Carol and Daryl on the TV series, the rest are all based on the comic books. I picture Michonne as a mix though because I don't particularly like how she gets involved with everyone and is so desperate to get a man on the comics so I'm taking her character from the TV series, but her bigger experiences - like what happened with the governor and her back story before the apocalypse - from the comics.

Great Chapter :) Quick question: Can you explain which characters are the TV counterpart and which ones are their Comic counterpart.
Loving Michonne being in it :)
