Somewhere in Neverland

Hunting

Last night was not the best night’s sleep I’ve had. I kept hearing noises. I didn’t want to wake Chase, he was actually sleeping.

I was up before Chase so, I started making breakfast. I knew as soon as he got up we would be leaving in search for a stream. I heard Chase yawn and stretch.

“Good morning babe, I have breakfast waiting for you.” I took his plate over to him.

“Thank you, you didn’t have to do this. We could have saved it.” He was worried.

“I did need to do this. We both need the energy that it is going to give us. We need to find that stream and maybe hunt a little. I know we have the canned meat but, I would like to save it and we do need to start hunting.” I wasn’t sure if he was going to go for it but I had to try.

“You’re right, we do need the energy, find the stream, and go hunting. I was thinking that yesterday. What would I do without you?”

“I don’t know. I would rather not think about one of us not living without the other. I love you.” I walked over and kissed him.

He went to deepen the kiss and I pulled away.

“No Chase, not right now. This isn’t the place.” He looked disappointed.

“Why not?”

“Well first, we don’t have protection, second we need to get on the move, third a walker might get one of us and I know the other person would feel guilty for the rest of their lives. They wouldn’t be able to forgive themselves.” I knew he was hurt but that was the one thing he didn’t think about getting a bunch of.

“We could get protection, maybe tonight. We won’t be on the move tonight and no walker is going to get us.” Chase got up and started packing the equipment.

We left the building about an hour later. We had no idea where a stream would be. We didn’t want to leave the truck on the side of the road and go off into the woods because all of our supplies were in the truck. We might not survive without them, well Chase would but I might not.

We started driving down the road hoping to find a stream a stream off the side of the road. There were always one back home. I was hoping that we could find a place to pull off in to so we could see the truck at all times or find a place to hide the truck. About three hours into our search we found a bridge and there was like a drive way that went down to the stream.

I was so happy after four days without bathing we got to. Chase went first in to the water, while I stood guard. I was on the lookout for walkers or other humans. Every once in a while I would look at Chase and check him out. He was just as handsome as he was the day we married. Since the outbreak his body has become leaner and muscle. It made me hot for him.

While Chase was in the water he washed his clothes and handed them to me. He aired out for about five minutes and put on his clean clothes.

When it was my turn of course Chase stood guard. I could feel his eyes on my body. I know that my body has changed just a little bit like his has. I would run on the treadmill, I wanted to be able to outrun the walkers if I ever needed to.

“Ariel, if you stay in that water much longer I am not going to be able to control myself.” Chase said.

“Okay, I am almost finished.” When I was finished we left the stream. It was time to go hunting.
