We Can Change
AU where Sophia was never bit and turned into a walker and, as a result, it set into effect a series of changes for the group. Not everything happens the same way anymore. Not everyone who originally died, does. Not everyone who lived, does either. New paths are forged, and a new face emerge and take up residence in the lives of the survivors. (Rick/OC)
A. Rick Grimes
His son Carl died after being shot. Hershel wasn't able to get the tools he needed in time to operate. Carl reanimating a short time later is how he and the group learned that everyone is infected. Rick had to put his own son down and it put a much further wedge between him and Lori, who finally split up. Her choosing Shane put a separate wedge between the friends for a while, until they found Jo. He eventually entered into a relationship with Jo, and is the adoptive father of her daughter Hope.
B. Joanna "Jo" Moore/Grimes
Survivor of the outbreak. She lost her husband; he died from the outbreak in the very beginning. After he turned she couldn't bring herself to put him down, so she simply left to hit the road alone. After about two months, while hiding in the woods from some walkers, she found Sophia. She is the mother of Hope, and eventually the lover of Rick. (portrayed by: Jennifer Morrison)
C. Shane Walsh
Never killed Otis, and there was never a Randall to cross any of their paths. He and Lori became a couple a short while after the death of Carl. After the prison fell, his fate is unknown. He is presumed dead.
D. Andrea Harrison
Never got left behind at Hershel's farm, therefore never saved or met Michonne. She is with the group at the prison, and is the closest female friend Jo has there. After the prison fell, her fate is unknown. She is presumed dead.
E. Daryl Dixon
Same ol' Daryl we love.
F. Sophia Peletier/Grimes
She survived the woods after the CDC when she was found by Jo Moore. The two of them were unable to find the rest of the group and struck out together instead, eventually ending up at Woodbury. After The Governor lied about Jo being dead, Jo was taken in by an old woman in the town for six months until Merle Dixon helped her sneak out and find Jo. The pair, together again, wound up at an old farmhouse a week later where they were discovered by Rick and the others, and she was finally reunited with her mother Carol. Soon becomes the adoptive daughter of Rick and Jo.
G. Merle Dixon
Helped Jo and Sophia escape the The Governor and Woodbury, and eventually left as well, to seek out his brother and has become a vital part of Rick's group.
H. Morgan Jones
After Rick, Jo and Shane discovered Morgan still alive (and a little bit out fo sorts) in King County, and after a brief tussle and much discussion, Morgan agrees to return to the prison to help where he can.
I. Tyreese Williams
Same ol' Tyreese we love, except he was not turned away by Rick and never went to Woodbury. Is in a committed relationship with Karen.
A former Woodbury resident, she came to live at the prison, where she eventually developed a romantic relationship with Tyreese. When the flu spread through the prison, Karen was one of the first to contract it, but was one of the few to survive it.
K. Tara Chambler
Same ol' Tara we love, except she escaped the Prison with Morgan and Mika.
L. Mika Samuels/Grimes
Same ol' Mika we love, except she lost her sister Lizzie to the sickness at the Prison and escaped (and survived) with Morgan and Tara. She is now Rick and Jo's adoptive daughter.
M. Finn Autry
Jo's younger, half-brother who she assumed was dead, but has been living in an old Red Roof Inn with several people called The Commune. (portrayed by: Alex Pettyfer)
Not the same ol' Michonne. She never crossed paths with Andrea in the woods and instead made her way toward the city where she crossed paths with Harry and Finn's fledgling group and helped them form The Commune, where she's been since.
Former ER nurse from St. Ignatius, she came to The Commune the same time as Dr. Gavin Trevitt. (portrayed by: Rebecca Mader)
P. Mike Willis
Former government employee that tried heading back to his home state of Texas with his wife and kids, but ended up stuck just outside the DC area. His young daughter was killed early on, a death he witnessed. Eventually met up with other people and have been going from home to home, just trying to survive somehow and keep his family together. Became the de facto leader of his own, small group, until meeting Rick and joining his. (portrayed by: Adrian Pasdar)
Q. Ryan Willis
Mike's middle child and second son, now the youngest after his little sister died. Do to being similar ages, he's become friends with Mika. (portrayed by: Greyson Chance)
R. Lewis Wheeler
Blue-collared man who doesn't much like to talk about himself, but is always open to friendly conversation. Became friends with Jose in the beginning when Jose tried to help save his father's life, even though it was unsuccessful. Lewis, his mother Barb and Jose stuck together until eventually joining up with Mike's family, and are now happy to have a safe place among Rick's group. (portrayed by: Michael Shannon)
S. Barbara "Barb" Wheeler
Lewis' mother. Her husband died at the beginning. Jose, she met, when he tried to help save her husband, even though it was to no avail. She's always been a tough cookie and is not one to shy away from hard work. She suffers from arthritis, which sometimes makes the simplest task very hard for her. (portrayed by: Kathy Bates)
T. Jose Flores
Before the world fell, he bounced around from different skilled labor jobs; mostly construction. After the world fell, he crossed paths with Lewis and Barb, and tried to save Lewis' father/Barb's husband, but it was a lost cause. The mother-son duo still appreciate his efforts and welcomed him to stay with them, quickly become the best of friends with Lewis and like another son to Barb. Eventually they crossed paths with Mike's family and joined them, and now, with Rick's group, he's found a community to belong to. (portrayed by: Michael Peña)
